Softball Recap: Hollins Royals vs. Seminole Warhawks

Hollins lost against Seminole back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hollins Royals' rough 14-8 defeat to the Seminole Warhawks might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hollins in their matchups with Seminole: they've now lost four in a row.

Hailey Mercado and Gianna Close did some serious damage despite the final result: Mercado scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Close went 3-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubri Cofield, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Hollins hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seminole struck out five times.

As for Seminole, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Largo at 7:00 p.m. Seminole will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
