The Etiwanda Eagles will take on the Damien Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Etiwanda will be strutting in after a victory while Damien will be coming in after a defeat.
Etiwanda is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Ayala, posting a 40-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Etiwanda's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chad Wakumoto Jr. led the charge by picking up 130 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 130 receiving yards gave Wakumoto Jr. a new career-high. Another passer making a difference was Keegan Campuzano, who threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Damien didn't have quite enough to beat Rancho Cucamonga on Friday and fell 24-22. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season.
Etiwanda will need to focus on slowing down Isaiah Arriaza, one of several Damien players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 200 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 54 yards. Malachi McFarland was another key back, rushing for 77 yards and one score on only five carries.
Even if they lost, Damien's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. Declan Becher was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up four himself. Those four sacks set a new season-high mark for him. Another thorn in Rancho Cucamonga's side was Owen Gilboy, who picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Having lost for the first time this season, Damien fell to 5-1. As for Etiwanda, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Etiwanda has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 150.5 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Damien has preferred to attack from the air: they average 281.8 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Etiwanda was taken down by Damien 45-10 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Arriaza, who rushed for 47 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 191 yards and one TD while completing 72.2% of his passes.
