Baseball Recap: Plainview Takes a Loss

Plainview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the New Hope Indians, falling 10-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Tuesday.

Eli Sampson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Plainview is 2-1 when Sampson posts two or more runs, but 5-11 otherwise.

Plainview's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for New Hope, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainview will welcome Sylvania at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for New Hope, they will be playing at home against Sipsey Valley at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.
