Basketball Game Preview: Oswego Indians vs. Marmaton Valley Wildcats

Oswego and Marmaton Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Oswego Indians will head out to take on the Marmaton Valley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marmaton Valley will be up against a hot Oswego squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Oswego took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 59-17 victory over Southern Coffey County. The Indians pushed the score to 46-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans had no chance of recovering from.

Oswego's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Josh Hutchinson, who went 7 of 9 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds, and Owen Jackson, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points. Jackson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Rayden Myers was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Oswego smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Marmaton Valley was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Chetopa 73-38. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Marmaton Valley pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Oswego, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Everything went Oswego's way against Marmaton Valley in their previous matchup on January 7th, as Oswego made off with a 69-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oswego since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
