Baseball Recap: Countryside Takes Down Clearwater in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Countryside had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Clearwater Tornadoes 8-6. Eight seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Countryside got a big performance out of Chase Hilldreth, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Hilldreth a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Sadlowski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Countryside and bumps their season record up to 18-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Clearwater, they moved to 15-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Countryside will challenge Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. Clearwater does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
