Basketball Recap: Round Mountain Comes Up Short

Round Mountain had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 47-23 to the Jackpot Jaguars on Thursday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Leading Jackpot to victory were Jorge Avila and Angel Martinez. Avila almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards, while Martinez went 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points along with seven boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least a third of Jackpot's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Cortes, who posted five points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

The win was the third in a row for Jackpot, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Round Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 33-23 defeat against Wells on the 5th. As for Jackpot, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-34 loss against White Pine on the 6th.
