Baseball Recap: Idaho Falls Takes a Loss

Idaho Falls made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Blackfoot, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Logan Whiting was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Makai Ferguson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Idaho Falls: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nelson Kunz, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Idaho Falls' record now sits at 5-16. As for Blackfoot, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Idaho Falls will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Shelley at 3:30 p.m. The Tigers are facing the Russets at the right time seeing as the Russets are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Blackfoot, they will host Skyline at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
