Softball Recap: Kutztown Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Kutztown rose to the challenge on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Loyalsock Township Lancers 11-10. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Kutztown is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Loyalsock Township, they moved to 15-8 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Kutztown will face off against Pine Grove on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.5, the Cardinals 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Loyalsock Township does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
