Basketball Recap: Sadie Rau's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cromwell over Coginchaug Regional

Cromwell lost against Coginchaug Regional back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The matchup between the Cromwell Panthers and the Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils didn't end well, with the Cromwell Panthers falling 55-37. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 35th).

Cromwell's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Rau, who posted 12 points. Peyton Kelleher was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Sophie Farr continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Coginchaug Regional, posting 22 points along with seven steals and six boards. Farr's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Watson, who scored nine points and eight rebounds.

Cromwell dropped their record down to 9-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Coginchaug Regional, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.

Cromwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coginchaug Regional, they will welcome North Branford at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Coginchaug Regional is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.
