Volleyball Game Preview: Columbus Explorers vs. Cypress Bay Lightning

The Columbus Explorers will take on the Cypress Bay Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Columbus is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against West Broward by a score of 3-1.

Columbus walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The final score came out to 25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Cypress Bay faced Coral Gables in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lightning were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cavaliers. The victory was familiar territory for the Lightning, who have now won five games in a row.

Cypress Bay was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 25-12.

Columbus has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. As for Cypress Bay, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Columbus beat Cypress Bay 2-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Explorers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lightning turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
