Softball Recap: East Mecklenburg Has No Trouble Against Berry

East Mecklenburg won the last time they faced Berry and things went their way on Wednesday too. East Mecklenburg was the clear victor by a 23-8 margin over Berry. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Frida Arroyo was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Arroyo was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zya Dunlap, who scored five runs and stole two bases while going 5-for-5. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Oyuky Alanis Lozada was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.

East Mecklenburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory got East Mecklenburg back to even at 5-5. As for Berry, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

East Mecklenburg has already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Charlotte Catholic on the 21st. As for Berry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against Myers Park on the 20th.
