Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Southern Nash

Southern Nash waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Rocky Mount Gryphons as they made off with an 11-1 win. With that victory, the Firebirds brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Caiden Peeler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Southern Nash is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-9 otherwise. Peeler was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Kwamaine Battle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Southern Nash is undefeated when Battle posts three or more RBI, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brayden Parker, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Southern Nash hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.

The win got Southern Nash back to even at 9-9. As for Rocky Mount, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
