Noel Velazquez Turns in Season-Best Effort

On Friday, Maxwell got the W thanks in part to Noel Velazquez playing the best football he has all season. Velazquez rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Quincy's probably not too fond of Velazquez given he always seems to get the better of them. Velazquez rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 163 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes the last time he and the Trojans duked it out back in October of 2023.

Strong Made His Presence Known in Hamilton's 62-36 Victory

Kayden Strong's big game helped extend Hamilton's winning streak to six on Friday. Strong was unstoppable, rushing for 63 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 329 yards and a touchdown while picking up 13.2 yards per attempt.

On the year, Strong has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 190.3 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 9.86 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 112.14 rushing yards.

Another Game with at Least 111 Rushing Yards from Harrison Hamre

Harrison Hamre continued his hot streak on Friday by dropping his eighth-straight game (dating back to last season) with at least 111 rushing yards. He rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 62 receiving yards and a touchdown.

If the past is any indication, Hamre could be in store for another big game when he takes on Maxwell on Friday. Hamre rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries the last time he and the Panthers duked it out back in September of 2023.
