Preview: Alexandria City Titans vs. Fairfax Lions
The Alexandria City Titans will be home for the holidays to greet the Fairfax Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Alexandria City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by National Christian Academy at home to the tune of 83-50. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Alexandria City has managed all season.
Alexandria City relied on the efforts of Kye Robinson, who scored 25 points, and Darius Bivins, who scored 22 points along with eight assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Robinson has scored at least 25% of Alexandria City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Libresco, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairfax strolled past Annandale with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-44. Given Fairfax's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Annandale is ranked 294th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexandria City now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Fairfax, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Alexandria City won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February, slipping by Fairfax 54-53. Does Alexandria City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fairfax turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
