Baseball Recap: Newport Harbor Find Success

Newport Harbor saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They came out on top against the West Covina Bulldogs by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sailors.

Keaton Anderson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Perez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Elijah Haseth was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Newport Harbor's record now sits at 13-5. As for West Covina, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport Harbor will host Fountain Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sailors 2.9, the Barons 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for West Covina, they will face off against Peninsula at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
