Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Greeley Central Wildcats

The Roosevelt Roughriders will venture away from home to challenge the Greeley Central Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greeley Central took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Roosevelt, who comes in off a win.

While Roosevelt didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past Northridge with a 47-41 victory back in December of 2024. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Roughriders.

Jack Cook had a dynamite game for Roosevelt, going 7 of 17 on his way to 20 points and four steals. Cook is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Reckard, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Greeley Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Loveland 76-23. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Greeley Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Roosevelt took their victory against Greeley Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 70-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roosevelt since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
