Softball Recap: South Salem Saxons vs. Lebanon Warriors
South Salem extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-17 in the process. They lost 16-8 to the Lebanon Warriors. If the Saxons were looking for revenge after losing 5-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Abigail Hennan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Orr, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Lebanon, their record now sits at 6-13. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Lebanon's side, Annastazia Marshall made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marshall has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lebanon got a massive performance out of Tatum Cole, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Maddison MacKie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Salem will take on Sprague at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lebanon, they will square off against Corvallis at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
