The Oak Hill Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Dirigo Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dirigo took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Oak Hill, who comes in off a win.
Oak Hill had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Hall-Dale on Thursday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-4 win. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.
Kaileb Littlefield and Braden Dubuc made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Littlefield tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Dubuc pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Littlefield went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Dubuc went 2-for-4 with one run.
In other batting news, Oak Hill got a massive performance out of Braden New, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was New's first of the season. Kaleb Langlois was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Oak Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Dirigo's offense. They fell just short of Madison by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Dirigo has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Oak Hill, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.
Oak Hill took their win against Dirigo in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
