Softball Recap: Del Mar Takes a Loss

Del Mar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln Lions. If the Dons were looking for revenge after losing 11-2 to the Lions when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Niarah Aimonetti was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Julienn (Jess) Ruiz-Correa was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Del Mar's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Del Mar will look to defend their home field on Friday against Live Oak at 4:00 p.m. Live Oak's pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so Del Mar's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lincoln, they are taking a road trip to square off against Oak Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13 runs per game this season.
