After a string of seven wins, Waunakee's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DeKalb Barbs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Wisconsin, while the Barbs are ranked 46th in Illinois).

Waunakee's loss dropped their record down to 14-3. As for DeKalb, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waunakee will host Monona Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Monona Grove's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for DeKalb, they will take on Waubonsie Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Waubonsie Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully DeKalb likes a good challenge.
