Milton-Union had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 11-6 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Franklin Monroe Jets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.
Wyatt Kimmel was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since April 3rd. Mike Riquelme also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
As for Franklin Monroe, they now have a losing record of 7-8. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
On Franklin Monroe's side, Brandt Filbrun was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. The Jets are 2-1 when Filbrun posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nathan Fenstermaker, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milton-Union will venture away from home to take on Twin Valley South at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.79 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Franklin Monroe, they will head out on the road to face off against Emmanuel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jets are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
