Baseball Recap: Kaiser Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Kaiser ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past the Citrus Valley Blackhawks 3-2. For the Cats, this counts as revenge for the 9-7 win the Blackhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Kaiser's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zeke Isaak Cortez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That hit marked the first that Cortez got this season.

Kaiser has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Citrus Valley and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Kaiser has already played their next matchup, an 8-0 win against Upland on the 10th. As for Citrus Valley, they will welcome Bloomington at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloomington will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Citrus Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
