Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Magnolia Blue Eagles

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will challenge the Magnolia Blue Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Notre Dame is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 64-42 margin over Clay-Battelle. The Fighting Irish have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Magnolia). They blew past Madonna, posting a 78-28 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Magnolia is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points over those games. The victory made it two in a row for Notre Dame and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Notre Dame came up short against Magnolia in their previous matchup back in January of 2016, falling 68-59. Can Notre Dame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
