Softball Recap: Maryville Red Rebels vs. Farragut Admirals

After flying high against West last Thursday, Maryville came back down to earth. The Maryville Red Rebels lost 8-2 to the Farragut Admirals on Friday. Maryville has not had much luck with Farragut recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Maryville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Saunders, who went 1-for-3 with a double.

Even though they lost, Maryville didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farragut only tossed five.

On Farragut's side, Hallie Grace Johnson looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elsa Morrison, who scored a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Addison Pressley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Maryville's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Farragut, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Maryville nor Farragut have any future games scheduled.
