Soccer Recap: Rock Ridge Comes Up Short

There was early excitement for Rock Ridge after they claimed the first goal on Monday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell just short of the Woodgrove Wolverines by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Rock Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Woodgrove are ranked 104th).

Rock Ridge has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 0-11-3 record this season. As for Woodgrove, their win bumped their record up to 10-4-2.

Coming up, Rock Ridge will head out on the road to take on Heritage at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Rock Ridge will be up against Heritage's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.75 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Woodgrove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
