Softball Recap: Brighton Comes Up Short

Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-3 to the Mercy Marlins, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 14-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2015.

Brighton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Damron, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Another was Anna Minnick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mercy, their win was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brighton will take on Detroit Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mercy, they will square off against Eaton Rapids at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
