Baseball Game Preview: Eastlake Titans vs. Montgomery Aztecs

Eastlake has gone 8-2 against Montgomery recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Titans will host the Aztecs at 3:30 p.m. Eastlake's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Montgomery's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Eastlake took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They skirted past San Ysidro 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since March 19th.

Max Tello looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastlake saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hamza Hatahet, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Eastlake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Ysidro struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Montgomery was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 8-3 to Bonita Vista.

Eastlake's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Everything went Eastlake's way against Montgomery in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Eastlake made off with an 8-1 win. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Aztecs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
