Softball Recap: Williams Gets the Win

Williams was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Superior Panthers by a score of 11-7. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Audrina Baldwin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Williams got a massive performance out of Kenzie Orozco, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Orozco also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Miranda Chaney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Williams always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Superior only posted an OBP of .375.

Williams' win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Superior, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Williams didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-1 victory against El Capitan on the 22nd. As for Superior, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-11 defeat against Prescott on the 20th.
