Softball Recap: Washington Township Gets the Win

Washington Township's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the East Chicago Central Cardinals as they made off with a 15-1 win. The Senators haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Washington Township got a massive performance out of Makenzee Gast, who fired off three triples, three runs, and one RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits Gast has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Winchip, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI.

Washington Township's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for East Chicago Central, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Washington Township has already played their next match, a 5-0 defeat against West Central on the 17th. As for East Chicago Central, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hammond Morton at 5:00 p.m. on the 24th.
