Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Seminoles vs. West Union Eagles

Smithville is 2-7 against West Union since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Smithville Seminoles are taking a road trip to square off against the West Union Eagles at 7:30 p.m.

Smithville managed to keep up with Okolona until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Smithville lost 64-39 to Okolona.

Meanwhile, West Union posted their biggest victory since December 9, 2024 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 64-41 margin over Vardaman. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

West Union is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Smithville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Smithville was dealt a bruising 76-34 loss at the hands of West Union in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Smithville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
