Softball Recap: Columbus Triumphs

Columbus took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Mt. Pleasant, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 3-2. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 9-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The victory made it two in a row for Columbus and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-3 defeat against West Burlington on the 31st. As for Mt. Pleasant, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-0 loss against Louisa-Muscatine on the 31st.
