Recap: Flatirons Academy Bison vs. Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles
The Flatirons Academy Bison entered their tilt with the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Flatirons Academy secured a 37-32 W over the Eagles on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Flatirons Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Flatirons Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emily Dehaan, who scored 20 points. It was the first time this season that Dehaan scored 15 or more points. Brylin Gomer was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 13 rebounds and six blocks.
Defeat or not, Dayspring Christian Academy got some senior leadership from Eboselulu Omofoma and Faith Hayward. Omofoma scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Hayward. scored 15 points along with two steals. Omofoma hasn't dropped below three steals for six straight games.
Flatirons Academy pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 46.6 points. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flatirons Academy will square off against the Thunder at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Denver Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Bison are ranked 31st). Dayspring Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Bishop Machebeuf has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
