Baseball Recap: Carnegie Comes Up Short

Carnegie's last matchup with Waukomis could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Thursday. The Wildcats lost 11-2 to the Chiefs. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Stetson West was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has become a key player for Carnegie: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-7 otherwise. Kuper Schneberger was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Carnegie's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Waukomis, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.

Coincidentally, Carnegie and Waukomis will both be playing Cherokee the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will host the Chiefs at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Chiefs will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
