Baseball Recap: Culleoka Takes a Loss

Culleoka had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-13 to make it seven. They came up short against the Hampshire Hawks, falling 11-1. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Culleoka saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Richardson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was Richardson's first of the season.

As for Hampshire, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Considering they have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Hampshire's side, Elijah Stephens spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. Stephens has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keaon Nicholson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dakota Disbro was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

While Culleoka had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
