West Valley is 1-9 against San Jacinto since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 3:15 p.m. West Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
West Valley will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Tahquitz, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Titans last Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
West Valley let Desiray Rodriguez and Deonys Ioane run wild. Rodriguez got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Ioane went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted since back in February of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jennah Murphy, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
West Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, San Jacinto was a bit more limited in their contest last Thursday. They came up short against Temescal Canyon, falling 11-0. The Tigers have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
San Jacinto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamorah Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
West Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for San Jacinto, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .527. However, it's not like San Jacinto struggles in that department as they've averaged .496. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Valley might still be hurting after the 21-5 loss they got from San Jacinto in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
