Volleyball Recap: McCook Takes a Loss

McCook extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 14-10. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Platte Bulldogs. The Bison were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Cali Crawford paced McCook's offense, picking up nine kills. Crawford got some help from Karstyn Porter and her 14 assists. Jaylea Walgren controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

As for North Platte, the victory snapped their losing streak at four matches and leaves them with a 11-18 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 19th.

Among those leading the charge was Merci Koontz, who had 13 digs. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Looking ahead, McCook is taking a road trip to take on Gothenburg on Thursday. As for North Platte, they will welcome Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
