Softball Recap: Brookfield Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Brookfield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt New Milford on Monday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Green Wave. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Sydney Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Aurrichio, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Fitzgerald, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Brookfield pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Milford, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 15-5 record.

Brookfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Milford, they will venture away from home to face off against Lauralton Hall at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
