Basketball Game Preview: American Heritage Stallions vs. Inlet Grove Hurricanes

American Heritage hasn't had much luck against Inlet Grove recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The American Heritage Stallions just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Inlet Grove Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

American Heritage is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-64 heartbreaker at the hands of Grandview Prep.

Meanwhile, Inlet Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 70-44 to Wellington. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Wolverines are ranked 27th).

Despite the loss, Inlet Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ja?Marcus Johnson went 7 for 13 on his way to 15 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Benson Murat, who posted six points.

American Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Inlet Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

American Heritage couldn't quite finish off Inlet Grove when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 40-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Inlet Grove's Robert Brown, who went 8 of 16 en route to 21 points.
