Softball Preview: Ledyard Colonels vs. Putnam Clippers        
        
		
            The Ledyard Colonels will venture away from home to  face off against the Putnam Clippers  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Ledyard is coming into the  game hot, having won their last four games.
Ledyard is headed into the  match having just  posted their closest  win since April 10th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Stonington, sneaking past  4-2.
 Alexia Lemmon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 11 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   seven  hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Julia Bonser, who  went 3-for-4 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI. She has been hot recently, having  posted three or more  hits the last three times she's  played.  Mia Starling was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and one  stolen base.
Meanwhile,  after soaring to 21  runs the game before, Putnam was a bit more limited  in their  contest  on Thursday. They lost  7-1 to Windham. The Clippers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
 Putnam saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Avah Grimshaw, who  went 2-for-3 with one  stolen base.
