Softball Recap: Benjamin Davis Comes Up Short

Benjamin Davis extended their losing streak to 13 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-17. They came up short against the Aldine Mustangs, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 back in March.

As for Aldine, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-17 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games.

For Aldine's part, Evelyn Andrade made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Andrade was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sara Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Juliana Moctezuma was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Benjamin Davis will take on MacArthur at 6:30 p.m. on the 17th. As for Aldine, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-13 loss against Eisenhower on the 14th.
