Softball Recap: Decatur Has No Trouble Against Beamer

While Decatur put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Beamer. The Golden Gators were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Titans. The win continues a trend for the Golden Gators in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.

Kahea Sharpe made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Sharpe was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Audrey Deviney was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sam Hackney was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Decatur always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Decatur pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beamer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
