Softball Recap: Fairport Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Fairport dropped their record down to 10-9 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 11-3 to the Penfield Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 back in April.

Fairport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lizzie Roessel, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Penfield, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.8 runs.

On Penfield's side, Clare Magee tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Magee has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Megan Clark was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexi Cimino, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairport will venture away from home to square off against Webster Schroeder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Penfield, they will head out to take on Rush-Henrietta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
