Softball Game Preview: Space Coast Vipers vs. DeLand Bulldogs

The Space Coast Vipers will take on the DeLand Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Space Coast made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Melbourne, but still couldn't quite topple them. Space Coast never let Melbourne get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The Vipers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Space Coast got a massive performance out of Kami Dacko, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Dacko has posted since back in March of 2024. Abby Minear was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Space Coast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, DeLand beat Lecanto 11-8 on Saturday.

DeLand let De-Niya Padgett and Yanelie Echevarria run wild. Padgett went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Echevarria scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That triple was Padgett's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyanne Gosselin, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

DeLand's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Space Coast, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Space Coast beat DeLand 7-3 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Space Coast have another victory up their sleeve, or will DeLand turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
