Dobie is a perfect 7-0 against Manvel since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Dobie proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 16) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Alvin 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Longhorns as they're now sitting on three straight.
Vanessa De La Fuente spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Dobie's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leslie Sarduy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Sarduy has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Manvel came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Eagles. That's two games straight that the Mavericks have won by just one run.
The team relied heavily on Kaylah Hopkins, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Blaire Spurlock, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Manvel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Dobie's record is now 16-10. As for Manvel, their record now sits at 14-9.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dobie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Manvel struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dobie took their victory against Manvel in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
