Basketball Recap: Avery Leech's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Garrett over Angola

Garrett lost against Angola back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Railroaders took a hard 60-44 fall against the Hornets. While the Railroaders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 15-9 in the first quarter.

Garrett's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Leech, who posted 16 points. Leech continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Coffman, who scored 19 points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Garrett and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Angola, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Garrett will welcome Prairie Heights at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Angola, they are taking a road trip to challenge Norwell at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
