Volleyball Recap: Irvington Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short

If Irvington Preparatory Academy was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Indianapolis Scecina Memorial last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Irvington Preparatory Academy took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heritage Christian Eagles on Thursday. While Irvington Preparatory Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Heritage Christian 25-21 in the first set.

Irvington Preparatory Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-22.

James Norton paced Irvington Preparatory Academy's offense, picking up eight kills. Norton got some help from Jason Norton and his 12 assists. James was also solid from the service line: he led the team with six aces.

Heritage Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Martin led the charge by getting 15 kills, five blocks, and four aces. Ben Bauer was another key player, getting 13 kills, three digs, three aces, and one block.

Irvington Preparatory Academy now has a losing record of 1-2.

Irvington Preparatory Academy has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Taylor on the 28th. As for Heritage Christian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Roncalli at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th.
