Baseball Game Preview: Menlo-Atherton Bears vs. King's Academy Knights

The Menlo-Atherton Bears will square off against the King's Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Menlo-Atherton will be strutting in after a victory while King's Academy will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Menlo-Atherton sidestepped Sequoia for a 5-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won six in a row.

Anthony Kabrich looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Menlo-Atherton's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was MJ Ellazar, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither King's Academy nor Archbishop Mitty made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Knights fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 3-2. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Monarchs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Menlo-Atherton's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for King's Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Menlo-Atherton couldn't quite finish off King's Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
