Volleyball Recap: Abilene Christian Takes a Loss

Abilene Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Covenant Classical Cavaliers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Abilene Christian took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-9.

Audrey Rideout paced Abilene Christian's offense, picking up 19 kills. Rideout got some help from Addie Driskill and her 30 assists. Finally, Joshlyn Hancock kept Abilene Christian's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Abilene Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Covenant Classical, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Abilene Christian is set to challenge their familiar foe Calvary Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Covenant Classical will square off against rival Christian Life Preparatory at 7:00 p.m. on October 7.
