Basketball Recap: West Prairie Starts Season with Victory on the Road

West Prairie had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over the Rushville-Industry Rockets on Tuesday. This was payback for the Cyclones, who suffered a 57-26 defeat the last time these two teams met.

West Prairie's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton McGrew, who shot 73% from the field on her way to 17 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelynn Sullivan, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points.

Rushville-Industry's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Prairie will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Brimfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rushville-Industry, they will challenge Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
