Pattonsburg is 0-6 against King City since September of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildkats at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
King City will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Pattonsburg extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Panthers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Stanberry 72-19. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Bulldogs are ranked 40th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pattonsburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyatt Maize led the charge by rushing for 168 yards and two scores on only ten carries, while also picking up 119 receiving yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Maize is now averaging an impressive 113.4 rushing yards per game. Another passer making a difference was Gage Fortner, who threw for 326 yards and six TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt.
Another reason for the win was Pattonsburg's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Camden Griffith, Jeremy Pittsenbarger, and Collin Mason, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for King City against Princeton on Friday as the squad secured a 78-22 victory. With the Wildkats ahead 50-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
King City's win came from a few key players Pattonsburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke Roberts, who rushed for 87 yards and three scores on only six carries. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending three passes. Ryder Sample was another key player, gaining 102 total yards and four touchdowns.
King City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Sample led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
King City's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Pattonsburg, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
Pattonsburg was dealt a bruising 88-48 loss at the hands of King City in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Wildkats' Graham Medsker Iv, who rushed for 303 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry.
